A Momentary Lapse of Reason is the thirteenth studio album by Pink Floyd, released in 1987. The band's first album following Roger Waters' departure, it opened a new chapter led by David Gilmour, alongside Nick Mason and the returning Richard Wright.

This 500-piece Pink Floyd puzzle recreates one of Storm Thorgerson's most spectacular cover concepts: an enormous beach covered with hundreds of beds. 🧩

Pink Floyd After Roger Waters

Following years of internal tension, Roger Waters left Pink Floyd in 1985. David Gilmour continued with the band, and A Momentary Lapse of Reason became the first album of this new era.

The record includes tracks such as Learning to Fly, On the Turning Away and Sorrow. Richard Wright, who had left the group during the The Wall era, also contributed to the recording before later fully rejoining Pink Floyd.

A Beach Covered with Hundreds of Real Beds

Designed by Storm Thorgerson, the cover was photographed by Robert Dowling at Saunton Sands in Devon, England. The concept partly references a line from Yet Another Movie describing a “vision of an empty bed”.

Did you know? The beds seen on the cover were real. Around 700 beds were physically placed across the beach for the photo shoot. The crew even had to repeat the installation after rain disrupted the first attempt. 🌊

The result gave A Momentary Lapse of Reason an instantly recognisable cover, with its hundreds of beds and numerous visual details making it particularly well suited to a jigsaw puzzle.
