Rolling Stones – Tattoo You 500-Piece Puzzle
Released in August 1981, Tattoo You is an unusual album in the Rolling Stones catalogue. Much of its material originated during earlier recording sessions, in some cases several years before the album, and was revisited and completed for the new release.
The result includes Start Me Up, which became one of the Stones' best-known songs, alongside Hang Fire, Waiting on a Friend and Neighbours.
Did you recognise Mick Jagger?
The face on the album cover really is Mick Jagger, although the extraordinary graphic treatment makes him surprisingly difficult to recognise. The black-and-white portrait was photographed by Hubert Kretzschmar, while the elaborate designs covering Jagger's face and neck were created by illustrator Christian Piper.
The concept and art direction were handled by Peter Corriston, who had previously worked on the covers of Some Girls and Emotional Rescue. The monochrome portrait, intricate patterns and vivid red-orange background gave Tattoo You its instantly recognisable identity.
Did you know? On the original album sleeve, Mick Jagger appears on the front while Keith Richards appears on the back, also photographed in black and white and covered with illustrated designs. Peter Corriston's work on Tattoo You won the 1982 Grammy Award for Best Album Package. 🏆
This highly detailed album artwork is reproduced here as a 500-piece puzzle.
