This puzzle features the cover of Human, Death's fourth studio album, released in 1991. A pivotal record in Chuck Schuldiner's career, it saw Death move towards considerably more technical and complex compositions.

The artwork combines two anatomical representations of the human body with photographic and abstract textures in shades of grey, brown and black. Death's famous red logo dominates the composition, with the Human title appearing in the same colour at the bottom. 💀

A major turning point for Death

For Human, Chuck Schuldiner surrounded himself with musicians who played an important role in the band's new direction: Paul Masvidal on guitar, Sean Reinert on drums and Steve DiGiorgio on bass.

This line-up allowed Death to push its instrumental sophistication considerably further. The album includes Flattening of Emotions, Suicide Machine, Secret Face, Lack of Comprehension and the instrumental Cosmic Sea.

A new visual identity

Following the highly colourful Ed Repka illustrations of the previous albums, Human introduced a radically different aesthetic. David Bett is credited with artwork and art direction, while René Miville provided the photography.

This distinctive cover is reproduced here as a 72-piece round puzzle, measuring 18 cm in diameter when completed.
