Official Ramones iron-on patch – Presidential Seal – Ø 10 cm

This official Ramones iron-on patch features the band's famous Presidential Seal: a circular black and white emblem centred around an eagle and surrounded by the names of the four original Ramones. The design takes its inspiration from the Great Seal of the United States, transformed into one of the most distinctive logos in punk rock.

The Ramones Presidential Seal was created by Arturo Vega, the artist and close friend of the band who played a major role in shaping their visual identity. Vega reworked the imagery of the Great Seal of the United States, keeping its eagle and circular composition while replacing some of its traditional symbols with references connected to the Ramones.

The arrows normally held by the eagle were replaced by a baseball bat, a nod to Johnny Ramone's love of baseball. The traditional olive branch became an apple tree branch, reflecting Vega's idea of the Ramones as something quintessentially American – “as American as apple pie”.

Johnny, Joey, Dee Dee, Tommy

Around the eagle appear the names Johnny, Joey, Dee Dee and Tommy, representing the original Ramones line-up. Combined with the eagle, stars and altered American symbols, these names turn the formal appearance of an official seal into an unmistakable emblem of the New York band.

The logo became a defining part of the Ramones' visual identity and remains closely associated with the band. Its elaborate heraldic appearance creates a striking contrast with the fast, stripped-down punk rock that made the Ramones such an influential force from the mid-1970s onwards.
