This Led Zeppelin - Stairway to Heaven flag brings together several iconic elements from Led Zeppelin IV: the Hermit holding his lantern, the band's name and the four symbols associated with Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones, John Bonham and Robert Plant.

The original Hermit illustration was created by Barrington Colby. It appeared inside the sleeve of Led Zeppelin IV, the band's fourth album released in 1971 and home to Stairway to Heaven.

The Hermit of Led Zeppelin IV

Standing high on a rocky peak, the figure holds a lantern illuminating the darkness. The character was inspired by the Hermit from the Tarot. Jimmy Page himself described the figure as representing ideas including self-reliance and wisdom.

The Hermit became a distinctive part of Led Zeppelin's visual world. A few years later, Jimmy Page portrayed the character himself in a famous sequence from the film The Song Remains the Same. 🔥

Stairway to Heaven – never commercially released as a single

Written by Jimmy Page and Robert Plant, Stairway to Heaven runs for over eight minutes and became one of Led Zeppelin's best-known songs. Remarkably, despite its enormous popularity and extensive radio airplay, the track was never commercially released as a single at the time.

This flag therefore combines two major elements from the world of Led Zeppelin IV: the Hermit and the four mysterious symbols chosen by the members of the band.
