By 1989, Stevie Wonder already had an extraordinary career behind him, from his early Motown recordings to landmark 1970s albums including Talking Book, Innervisions and Songs in the Key of Life.

The 1980s had brought further worldwide success with songs including Master Blaster (Jammin'), I Just Called to Say I Love You and Part-Time Lover. This programme comes from a period when Wonder was firmly established as an international superstar while remaining one of soul music's defining artists.
