Fear of the Dark: an unforgettable Eddie design

For the cover of Fear of the Dark, Iron Maiden broke with a long-standing tradition. The artwork was not created by Eddie's original artist Derek Riggs, but by British illustrator Melvyn Grant. His nightmarish version of Eddie accompanied an album that also produced one of the band's best-known songs.

Fear of the Dark has developed a particularly strong identity on stage, with audiences famously singing along to its introductory melody. It has remained a staple of Iron Maiden's live shows.
