Metallica – Whiplash 500-Piece Puzzle
Whiplash is one of Metallica's defining early tracks. Featured on Kill ’Em All, the band's 1983 debut album, the song also gave its name to Metallica's first US single.
This 500-piece Metallica puzzle reproduces the Whiplash cover artwork, with its black, red and orange design and fragmented image of James Hetfield performing on stage. 🧩
Whiplash: Metallica in 1983
When Whiplash was released in August 1983, Metallica had only just released Kill ’Em All. The line-up of James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich, Kirk Hammett and Cliff Burton was establishing the aggressive, fast-paced sound that would become a cornerstone of American thrash metal.
Fast and built around headbanging, Whiplash directly describes the intensity of a metal concert. Its title refers to the violent neck movement associated with the relentless headbanging of both musicians and fans.
A Single with Two Unusual “Live” Tracks
The US release of Whiplash also includes Jump in the Fire, alongside versions of Seek & Destroy and Phantom Lord presented as live recordings.
Did you know? Those two tracks were not actually recorded in front of an audience. They were studio recordings with crowd noise added to create the impression of a live performance – an unusual detail from Metallica's earliest years.
Made by Zee Productions for the Rock Saws collection, this officially licensed puzzle recreates this early Metallica artwork in 500 pieces.
