Queen – Jazz 500-Piece Puzzle

Released in November 1978, Jazz is Queen's seventh studio album. Despite its title, this is not a jazz album: the record instead continues the band's characteristic mixture of musical styles.

It includes three enduring Queen favourites: Don't Stop Me Now, Bicycle Race and Fat Bottomed Girls, with the latter two also released together as a double A-side single.

A Cover Inspired by the Berlin Wall

With its black and white concentric circles and pink Jazz lettering, the sleeve is one of the most distinctive graphic designs in Queen's catalogue.

The idea for the artwork came from Roger Taylor. A few months earlier, the drummer had seen a similar design painted on the Berlin Wall and suggested using the concept for the new album cover. 🌀

The result was radically different from the elaborate artwork used for A Day at the Races and News of the World: an extremely simple geometric design that became instantly recognisable.

The Famous Bicycle Race Poster

Did you know? Original copies of Jazz included a large poster showing dozens of naked women riding bicycles. The photograph came from an actual bicycle race staged at Wimbledon Stadium in London to promote both the album and the Bicycle Race / Fat Bottomed Girls single.

The small cyclists featured along the bottom of this puzzle directly reference this famous episode in Queen history.
