The Who Union Jack: an unmistakably British logo

This The Who patch combines two instantly recognizable elements: the band's famous logo and the colours of the Union Jack. Red, white and blue run directly through the lettering, set against black for a particularly strong contrast.

One of the logo's defining details is clearly preserved: the final letter of The Who extends upwards into its famous arrow. The cut-out shape of the patch follows the complete design right up to the arrowhead rather than enclosing it within a conventional frame.

The story behind The Who's arrow logo

The arrow extending from the “o” has been associated with The Who since the 1960s. It notably appeared on the famous Brian Pike poster created in 1964, with lettering rooted in the graphic style of the period.

Interestingly, the design that became one of The Who's visual signatures was not originally created as an album-cover logo. Decades of use and countless variations have nevertheless made it one of the band's most recognizable symbols.

The classic design gets the Union Jack treatment
