This official Rolling Stones iron-on patch strips the design back to the famous Tongue and Lips logo in an entirely black version. With no band name or lettering, the symbol stands on its own: just a few lines are enough to identify one of the most famous emblems in rock history.

The Rolling Stones tongue, nothing else

Created in 1970 by British designer John Pasche, the Tongue and Lips logo first appeared on a Rolling Stones record in 1971 with Sticky Fingers. Mick Jagger had notably shown Pasche an image of the Hindu goddess Kali, whose protruding tongue contributed to the young designer's inspiration.

The resulting image would go far beyond its original purpose as a logo, with the tongue and lips gradually becoming inseparable from the visual identity of the Rolling Stones.

Black on black

There is no bright red here: the entire logo is rendered black on black. The different parts of the design remain visible through variations in texture, raised embroidery and outlines defining the lips and tongue.

This monochrome treatment gives the symbol a much more understated appearance than the classic red version while retaining its instantly recognisable silhouette. The cut-out shape follows the outline of the lips directly, with no square or circular background surrounding the design.

A compact patch focused on the symbol

Measuring 6 × 7.5 cm, this patch can easily be positioned on a jacket, bag or alongside other band patches. Its iron-on backing allows heat application to compatible fabrics.
