Lemmy Forever: a tribute to one of rock's greatest icons
Official Motörhead Lemmy Forever sew-on patch – 8 × 10 cm
♠️ This official Motörhead patch pays tribute to Ian Fraser "Lemmy" Kilmister (1945–2015), the band's founder, bassist and unmistakable frontman. More than just a musician, Lemmy became one of rock's most respected figures, admired far beyond heavy metal for his authenticity, charisma and uncompromising attitude.
A legend who inspired generations 🤘
After his time with Hawkwind, Lemmy founded Motörhead in 1975. Armed with his overdriven Rickenbacker bass, unmistakable gravelly voice and explosive blend of rock 'n' roll, heavy metal and punk, he forged a sound unlike any other. Albums such as Overkill, Ace of Spades, Iron Fist and 1916 established Motörhead as one of the most influential bands in rock history.
When Lemmy passed away on 28 December 2015, just four days after his 70th birthday, tributes poured in from every corner of the music world. His legacy continues to embody freedom, loyalty to one's principles and a lifelong commitment to honest, uncompromising rock 'n' roll.
Detailed patch description 🔍
This patch features a striking black-and-white portrait of Lemmy. His piercing gaze, signature handlebar moustache, thick mutton chops and black military-style hat decorated with badges make him instantly recognisable. With his fist pointed directly towards the viewer, the composition creates a powerful sense of connection, while the Gothic Lemmy and Forever lettering frames the portrait. The dates 1945–2015 underline that this patch is first and foremost a tribute to one of rock's greatest legends.
💡 Did you know?
Although Lemmy became one of heavy metal's defining figures, he always rejected that label. He repeatedly insisted that Motörhead was simply a rock 'n' roll band, citing artists such as Little Richard, Chuck Berry and The Beatles among his biggest influences. That philosophy explains why Motörhead has always attracted fans from the worlds of metal, punk, hard rock and classic rock alike.
His famous motto, "Born to Lose, Live to Win", became inseparable from his public image. More than just a slogan, it perfectly summed up Lemmy's philosophy: live freely, stay true to yourself and never compromise.
