Official Iron Maiden Senjutsu sew-on patch – 10 × 10 cm

⚔️ This official Iron Maiden sew-on patch reproduces the artwork from Senjutsu, the band's seventeenth studio album, released in 2021. Eddie appears as a fearsome samurai warrior, wearing battle-worn armour and holding a katana within a powerful black-and-red composition.

His undead features, war paint and intricately designed equipment create a spectacular new incarnation of Iron Maiden's legendary mascot. The square 10 × 10 cm format preserves the bold, direct impact of the original album cover.

A Japanese-inspired incarnation of Eddie

For Senjutsu, artist Mark Wilkinson drew inspiration from samurai armour, kabuki theatre and the oni creatures of Japanese folklore. He also studied armour and swords at London's Victoria and Albert Museum to bring greater authenticity and detail to the character.

The helmet incorporates elements of traditional Japanese armour while leaving Eddie's face fully visible. The finished design combines historical references with Iron Maiden's unmistakable fantasy aesthetic.

Senjutsu, Iron Maiden's seventeenth studio album

Released on 3 September 2021, Senjutsu was recorded at Guillaume Tell Studios in Paris with producer Kevin Shirley and co-producer Steve Harris. Its Japanese title can be loosely translated as “tactics and strategy”, an idea reflected in Eddie's formidable warrior appearance.

💡 Did you know?

Mark Wilkinson initially created a version of Eddie without a helmet. Steve Harris liked both designs and ultimately chose the helmeted samurai for the front cover, while the alternative version was retained for the back of the album.
