The Beatles Mini Backpack – Abbey Road
This The Beatles mini backpack features two familiar elements from the famous Abbey Road imagery in white against a black background: the band's logo and the silhouette of the four Beatles crossing the zebra crossing. An instantly recognisable design taken from one of rock's most famous album covers.
The famous Abbey Road crossing
On 8 August 1969, John Lennon, Ringo Starr, Paul McCartney and George Harrison stepped outside EMI Studios in London for a short photo session on the Abbey Road zebra crossing. Photographer Iain Macmillan, standing on a stepladder in the middle of the road, took just six photographs of the four musicians crossing the street.
One was selected for the cover of Abbey Road, released in the UK on 26 September 1969. With neither the album title nor the band's name appearing on the front, the photograph alone identified the record and became one of the most famous images of The Beatles. 🇬🇧
Abbey Road design in a mini backpack
The famous crossing appears as a simplified white graphic on the zipped front pocket, with The Beatles logo printed above it. The black and white treatment keeps the design particularly clean and close to the instantly recognisable imagery associated with the album.
Measuring 30 × 24 × 9.5 cm, this is a genuine mini backpack. It features a zipped main compartment, separate zipped front pocket, adjustable shoulder straps and a top carry handle.
