This puzzle features one of the most famous images in music history: the artwork created for Woodstock in 1969, with its white bird perched on a guitar neck and the words 3 Days of Peace & Music.

The Woodstock festival took place in August 1969 in Bethel, New York. Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, The Who, Santana, Joe Cocker and Jefferson Airplane were among the artists who performed before the enormous crowd.

The design was created by American graphic artist Arnold Skolnick. Its red background, white lettering and simple combination of a bird and guitar gave Woodstock an instantly recognisable visual identity.

Did you know? Although the bird is commonly described as a dove, Skolnick said it was inspired by a catbird he had been observing. In an early version of the design, the bird was even perched on a flute before Skolnick replaced it with a guitar.

The artwork is reproduced here as a 72-piece round puzzle, measuring 18 cm in diameter when completed.
