Skindred, where metal meets reggae

Formed in Newport, Wales, in the late 1990s around frontman Benji Webbe, Skindred developed a sound combining metal and reggae with elements of punk, dub and electronic music. This fusion is widely known as ragga metal.

From Dub War to Skindred

Before Skindred, Benji Webbe fronted the Welsh band Dub War, whose music already combined rock, metal, reggae and dub. Following Dub War's break-up in 1999, Webbe formed the band that would become Skindred.
