Cliff Burton tragically died on 27 September 1986 in a tour bus accident in Sweden during the Master of Puppets European tour. Despite spending only four years with Metallica, he remains one of the most respected bassists in rock history and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with the band in 2009.
