Aerosmith's winged logo in its classic form 🪽

Official Aerosmith Winged Logo iron-on patch – 9 × 3 cm

This official Aerosmith patch features the band's winged logo in red, white and black. Two large wings frame the central emblem and its star, while the Aerosmith name runs across the lower section. The patch is cut to follow the outline of the design.

From the first winged emblem to the 1982 logo

The history of the design predates the familiar version seen on this patch. In 1974, the artwork for Get Your Wings introduced an early emblem built around a central A flanked by wings. At this stage, however, the design was still very different from the logo used today.

The band's visual identity continued to evolve, including the introduction in 1975 of the familiar Aerosmith lettering. In 1982, during the Rock in a Hard Place era, these elements came together in the composition that became the classic logo: outstretched wings, the central emblem with its star and the Aerosmith name.

Ray Tabano and the origins of the concept

Ray Tabano, guitarist in Aerosmith's original line-up and a childhood friend of Steven Tyler, was behind the band's first winged graphic concept. Even after Brad Whitford replaced him in 1971, Tabano remained involved with Aerosmith and contributed to the development of the band's visual identity.

The patch reproduces not the early 1970s design, but the classic version of the winged logo introduced in 1982 and retained as part of Aerosmith's visual identity ever since.
