Iron Maiden Flag – Live After Death

This Iron Maiden – Live After Death flag features one of the most spectacular versions of Eddie created by Derek Riggs. Resurrected, Iron Maiden's mascot rises from his grave, chains still hanging from his wrists as electricity surges through his body. Electric blue and yellow flames give the artwork its instantly recognisable atmosphere.

The design comes directly from the visual world of Live After Death, Iron Maiden's first live album and a monumental document of the World Slavery Tour.

Live After Death: Iron Maiden on stage in 1984-1985

Released in October 1985, Live After Death was recorded during the massive World Slavery Tour in support of Powerslave.

Most of the album was recorded at the Long Beach Arena in California from 14 to 17 March 1985. On the original vinyl release, the fourth side also features recordings made at London's Hammersmith Odeon in October 1984.

Aces High, 2 Minutes to Midnight, The Trooper, Revelations, Hallowed Be Thy Name and Run to the Hills are among the tracks documenting Iron Maiden's early Bruce Dickinson era.

The resurrection of Eddie

For Live After Death, Derek Riggs literally brought Eddie back from the dead. The mascot bursts from his grave beneath a lightning-filled sky, creating a striking visual interpretation of the album's title.

The flag focuses the scene on Eddie: hair charged with electricity, broken chains hanging from his wrists, lightning and flames, with the Iron Maiden logo above and the Live After Death title below.

Did you know?

The original Live After Death cover is packed with the small details for which Derek Riggs became famous. Eddie's gravestone notably features a quotation from American writer H. P. Lovecraft, taken from The Nameless City — a fitting reference for Eddie's return from the dead.
