Bannière Twisted Sister

Alternative Metal

Twisted Sister stands as one of the most iconic names in 1980s hard rock and glam metal. Formed in New York in the early 1970s by guitarist Jay Jay French, the band rose to global fame with charismatic frontman Dee Snider and their landmark album Stay Hungry (1984), featuring anthems like “We’re Not Gonna Take It” and “I Wanna Rock.”

With their outrageous looks, defiant humor and fierce stance against censorship, Twisted Sister became a lasting symbol of youthful rebellion. Their high-energy sound and theatrical imagery defined the 80s metal era. Though the group disbanded several times, their reunion tours rekindled fan passion until drummer A.J. Pero’s passing in 2015 brought the story to a close. Their influence, however, continues to shape generations of rock and metal artists.
