Rap East Coast

Widely regarded as one of the greatest rappers of all time, Christopher Wallace — better known as Notorious B.I.G. or Biggie Smalls — left an indelible mark on hip-hop history. Born on May 21, 1972, in New York City, he became the emblem of East Coast rap in the 1990s thanks to his unmistakable flow, razor-sharp lyrics, and exceptional storytelling skills.

His debut album Ready to Die (1994) redefined the genre, but it was his posthumous double album Life After Death (1997) that cemented his legendary status, featuring timeless tracks like “Hypnotize” and “Sky’s the Limit.”

Tragically murdered on March 9, 1997, in Los Angeles at just 24 years old, Biggie’s death remains one of hip-hop’s darkest moments, symbolizing the violent rivalry between East Coast and West Coast scenes. Yet his influence continues to resonate through generations of artists and fans.
