Everything about DragonForce: biography, style & influences

DragonForce was formed in 1999 in London by virtuoso guitarists Herman Li and Sam Totman. The band quickly became famous for its high-octane speed metal, blistering guitar solos, and heroic universe inspired by video games and fantasy. Their debut album, Valley of the Damned (2003), laid the foundations for a flamboyant style, a blend of traditional power metal and modern technical excess.
Their global breakthrough came with Inhuman Rampage (2006) and the cult classic "Through the Fire and Flames," which became a phenomenon thanks to its inclusion in the video game Guitar Hero III. The band's breathtaking technical skill, combined with phenomenal stage presence, propelled DragonForce to the forefront of contemporary power metal. Despite several vocal changes, their musical identity has remained constant: epic melodies, breakneck speed, and a battle atmosphere worthy of the greatest fantasy quests.
DragonForce continues to ignite stages worldwide with albums like Maximum Overload and Extreme Power Metal, staying true to their epic and ultra-fast style. Blending 8-bit nostalgia with technical prowess, the band embodies a modern, fun, and spectacular version of melodic metal.
