Everything about Cannibal Corpse: biography, style & influences

Cannibal Corpse is a monument of American death metal. Founded in 1988 in Buffalo, New York, the band quickly established itself as one of the most extreme and provocative on the global metal scene. Between ultra-fast riffs, abyssal growls, and controversial album covers, their identity is as much sonic as it is visual.
From Eaten Back to Life (1990), Cannibal Corpse established its bloody signature. But it was with Tomb of the Mutilated (1992) that the band entered into legend, notably thanks to "Hammer Smashed Face," which became an anthem of the genre—immortalized by its appearance in the film Ace Ventura.
Vocalist George "Corpsegrinder" Fisher joined the band in 1995 and became one of its iconic figures. His Herculean neck and infernal headbanging contribute to the band's brutal image, while also solidifying an inimitable vocal style.
With over fifteen studio albums, an international fanbase, and rare consistency, Cannibal Corpse remains a pillar of the genre, faithful to its gory and uncompromising aesthetic. Their album Violence Unimagined (2021) testifies to their still-intact form.
