Everything about Alice Cooper: biography, style & influences

Bannière Alice Cooper

Hard Rock

Alice Cooper, born Vincent Damon Furnier on February 4, 1948, in Detroit (USA), is a true icon of American hard rock. A pioneer of shock rock, he became known for theatrical performances blending horror, satire and striking stage effects. The original Alice Cooper band, formed in 1968, rose to fame in the 1970s with classic albums such as Love It to Death (1971), School’s Out (1972) and Billion Dollar Babies (1973).

From Vincent Furnier to Alice Cooper

In 1975, Furnier officially adopted the name Alice Cooper and launched a solo career. Working with producer Bob Ezrin, he released major albums including Welcome to My Nightmare (1975), Trash (1989) and The Eyes of Alice Cooper (2003), combining dark humor, provocation and increasingly elaborate stage concepts.

A lasting legacy of shock rock

Often called the “godfather of shock rock”, Alice Cooper influenced artists such as Marilyn Manson and Rob Zombie, who carried forward this theatrical and provocative approach.

A historic return in 2025

In 2025, the original band members reunited to record The Revenge of Alice Cooper, set for release on July 25. Produced by Bob Ezrin, the album features posthumous contributions from Glen Buxton and a guest appearance by Robby Krieger of The Doors.
